SCarbaryl is the common name for a chemical known as 1-naphthyl
methylcarbamate. Its chemical formula is C12H11NO2, and molecular weight
is 201.2 g/mol. Carbaryl is a white crystalline solid that is slightly soluble
in water. It is essentially odourless and its odour threshold has not been
established. Carbaryl was first registered in the United States in 1959.
Currently, over 300 products containing carbaryl are actively registered
with the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Carbaryl belongs
to a family of chemicals that kill or control insects known as carbamates.
