Job opportunity – Assistant Accountant

Location: Glen Huntly VIC 3163 

Base salary: $60-65k

Duties:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements/management report 
  • Prepare company budget and running forecasts 
  • Handle queries regarding clients’ subscriptions, invoicing, payments, and other Finance related matters
    and Prepare and send invoices to clients
  • Prepare reports/documents required for annual tax audit and bank loan requirements 
  • Review existing processes to identify areas that need improvement and streamlining according to the current needs of the company 
  • Prepare quarterly BAS and other government reports
  • Collate payroll information, process in MYOB, produce reports, electronic banking files, journals, pay advice, report STP data to ATO, and End to end processing of company payrolls in Australia and UK 
  • Upload employee payment date to CBA bank for EFT to employees, email pay slips
  • Prepare, reconcile and remit monthly superannuation contribution, Payroll tax obligation 
  • Preserve audit trails for recovery in the event of malfunction or for any subsequent enquiry/audit
  • Preparation of payroll-related reports for managers as required.
  • Prepare and process journals for employee provisions. 
  • Reconciliation of payroll-related General Ledger accounts
  • Termination and redundancy calculations as required
  • End of year (30 June) processing and reconciliation and End of year (5 April) processing and reconciliation including payment summaries (UK) 
  • Coordination, management, and payment of workers compensation
  • Coordination of superannuation contributions ensuring statutory requirements are met. 
  • Handling staff queries regarding payroll and HR. 
  • Provide advice regarding employee and industrial relations issues. 
  • Other duties as directed 

Skills required:

  • At least two years’ experience in a similar role obtained in a medium to large size organization, preferably with experience in chemistry and/or Software industry 
  • Experience with UK payroll accounting would be an advantage  
  • Experience in using automated Accounting systems 
  • Experience in preparing management accounts and other analysis 
  • Experience in ensuring that financial procedures and internal controls are adhered to
  • Microsoft Office suite in particular Excel, Internet banking systems, email etc. 
  • Experience in preparing management accounts and other analysis 
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Understanding of payroll and HR legislation and processes i.e. interpretation of awards and legislation, tax and superannuation 
  • Knowledge of MYOB, HMRC Basic PAYE Tools, and online lodging process 
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting
