A health care facility that participates in the Medicare/Medicaid program by virtue of its accreditation by a national accrediting organization, whose standards have been determined to be at least equivalent to those of Medicare/Medicaid.. For Medicare, the facility is deemed to meet the Medicare conditions of participation, and is not surveyed by the SA for Medicare purposes. Currently, hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission and the AOA have Adeemed status.
